The Post Editor

The Talkbase Publish editor is designed to be clean and distraction-free. Here's how to make the most of it.

Choosing Your Editing Mode

At the top of the content area, you'll see two tabs:

  • Rich Text — A visual editor with a floating toolbar for formatting (bold, italic, headings, links, images). Great for most writers.

  • Markdown — A plain-text editor with a toolbar for Markdown shortcuts. Supports paste-to-convert: paste rich text from anywhere and it automatically converts to Markdown.

You can switch between modes at any time — your content is preserved.

Adding Images

In Rich Text mode, use the image button in the toolbar to upload an image directly into your post. Images are stored in your account's storage.

In Markdown mode, click the image icon in the toolbar to upload. The Markdown image syntax is ![alt text](url).

The Right Sidebar

The right column of the editor contains all your post settings:

  • Publishing — Toggle between Draft, Scheduled, or Publish immediately.

  • Details — Set a custom URL slug and write an excerpt (shown in RSS feeds and post listings).

  • Tags — Add tags by typing and pressing Enter. Previously used tags appear as suggestions.

  • Series — Group posts into a named series with part numbers. Existing series names are suggested as you type.

  • Author — Override the author name, title/position, and URL for this specific post.

Saving

Click Save Draft to save without publishing, or Publish to go live immediately. The button label updates based on your choices.
